The Messermeister Asian Precision 7-1/4-inch Gyuto is the actual shape equivalent of the French Cook's or Chef's knife. It is lighter in weight than a traditional chef's knife because it has no real bolster and a thinner blade from spine to edge. It is multi purpose as it can chop, slice, and dice meat, fish, vegetables, and fruit. It generally has a flatter camber and is more of a vertical chopping knife than a rocking one.
