We may be new to your kitchen, but you've trusted us in your pocket for over 100 years. Whether you're a professional chef or amateur cook, you know that the best tools and ingredients are important for a successful experience. With over century of experience of producing the Genuine Swiss Army Knife, Wenger has channeled its expertise and technology to produce the Grand Maitre Collection. Entirely Swiss made, with a particular attention to detail, Wenger has set the industry standard of manufacturing stamped knives. When producing a stamped blade knife, the blade is cut out of a sheet of high quality stainless steel then tempered, ground, polished and sharpened. The result is a knife that is flatter and lighter than forged knives, which reduces hand fatigue with long or repetitive use. Wenger uses a custom blended stainless steel with an optimal combination of strength and flexibility, (Rockwell hardness tested between 55-58 depending on the specific knife and its function), wear/corrosion resistance, and a long- lasting edge (the edge angle varies between 25 and 30 degrees, depending on the specific knife and its function). Every single knife is sharpened and polished by hand. Each knife is also individually inspected before and after the sharpening process. The handle is ergonomically designed, comfortable and non-slip even when wet. The handle is made from Polyamide 6; is non- porous and resistant to high temperatures. A hermetic seal between the handle and blade prohibits debris or germs from accumulating. Grand Maitre was recently the highest rated knife, (judged on versatility, steel composition, edge sharpness, and wear resistance) by the Swiss consumer program A Bon Entendeur. The 4.7 inch Japanese knife is a compact, all-purpose knife for cutting meats, vegetables, and fish. It features a granton blade edge, which helps prevent food from sticking after slicing.
